Bike Ride

I sometimes bike with my husband.  This past week he ask me to bike with him from Contra Loma Reservoir to Black Diamond Mines.  I accepted that invitation.

 We bike over to Frederickson Lane, at the bend going into Contra Loma Reservoir we took the gravel road that goes toward the hills.  

 The day was cold and windy so I chose to stay in the valley not ride the ridge trail. 

It was a beautiful ride with small ups and downs.

I enjoyed beautiful views of Mt. Diablo.

 We biked past the Star Mine Group Camp.

 Prospectors Tunnel

 and the Stewartville backpacking camp.  The ride has many small ups and down until we came to the part of the the road that is called the wall.

 I biked the lower part of the wall and then got off my bike and started to push it.  The trail got steeper and pushing got harder.  Terry was far a head sitting and waiting for me to catch up.

I stopped and looked behind me.  It was beautiful, green and fairly level.  I knew that it would be easy to get on my bike and return the way I had come.  I decided to continue uphill slowly pushing my bike.  Terry come back and encouraged me.  He offered to take my bike but I was determined to finish the climb myself.

When I reached the top it was a beautiful view.  This bike adventure is like life, we each choose our course.  The choices we make will make a difference of the view at the top or happiness we will feel because of the choices we made. 

1997 Antioch III Ward Relief Society Friendship quilt found in closet at the Rio Grande chapel

This quilt was made in 1997 by the Antioch III Ward Relief Society.  We are now the Antioch II ward as a few yeaars ago we were combined with Antioch II Ward and had a name change.  Bishop Ronald Hawkins was bishop of both wards Antioch III and Antioch II.  He was bishop wat the time of the change.

Martha Fox, the Relief Society President in the Antioch I Ward, gave this friendship quilt to me at the Stake Relief Society Conference on Thursday evening, January 25, 2018.  She had found it in one of the closets at the Rio Grande Building when she was cleaning it out.  She felt Antioch II Ward should have it.  The quilt was made in 1997 according to the signature of Cecila Mecham who put '97 under her signature on her block.  It has been fun to have other members of the ward help me identify blocks with only initials on them.  I have posted the blocks individually with the name of as many of the individuals who made them as can be identify.  Lots of memories for me in one small quilt. 

The quilt is 41" X 36" in size and consists of 42 blocks.
